Recently joined Liverpool fullback Jeremie Frimpong has already dropped a major hint about the Reds’ prime target.
After securing the Premier League title last month, the Merseysiders have been very much active in the transfer market.
Despite losing Trent Alexander-Arnold for €10 million to Real Madrid, LFC have taken a proactive approach to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong in this summer’s transfer window.
The club also has plans to sell a few other players and revamp the squad with new signings.
And these comments by recent signee Frimpong spark more interest.

The Anfield giants have been targeting Frimpong’s Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz for quite some time now.
Speaking in an interview with Rising Ballers back in January, the Dutch defender revealed Wirtz’s nickname by recalling Leverkusen’s 2023-24 Bundesliga-winning season, where the German international scored a hat-trick in the title-clinching 5-0 win over Werder Bremen, “Flo’s just scored and then everyone’s just like ‘Nooo, we’ve won the league.’ The match didn’t finish, [but] the fans just came onto the pitch.
So I think it got to the 90th minute, but there was added time.
“I think Flo scored and then the fans just came [onto the pitch].
Then eventually it started again, but then they couldn’t wait again, and they just came [onto the pitch].
The referee was like, ‘allow it’, and then we just all won the league.”
The duo has developed a great relationship both on and off the pitch.
On the pitch, the pair had played 150 games together and scored eight goals across five seasons (stats via Transfermarkt).
The 22-year-old attacker, however, had some say regarding this and confirmed why his family members don’t like the ‘Flo’ nickname.
Speaking via TikTok, Wirtz said, “My family just called me Flori.
Just my siblings and my family are allowed to say this!”
Liverpool have already submitted a £113m bid to the German club for Wirtz but they have been asking for £126m.
If this deal goes through, the Leverkusen star will become the first German player to be sold for over €100m.
